May 23, 2010 Mustang Project Clinic 3 - Riding & Obstacle Training (see clinic details below)
Our HorseTenders LLC Mustang Project, Last Chance Mustangs, is an endeavor that is very near and dear to our hearts. We have traveled over 2800 miles, round trip, to pick up these 5-6 year old mustangs that were destined for an uncertain future were it not for our intervention. Our HorseTenders team executed a finely tuned expeditionary mission while traveling back, quickly stopping every two hours to check on & look after our new guests, all in an effort to have them arrive in New Hampshire, in a timely manner, safe, and sound at our farm.
For the first time since our successful participation in the 2008 & 2009 Extreme Mustang Makeover National Competitions, HorseTenders is allowing the public the opportunity to witness our unique "Developing Mettle without Metal"TM approaches with regard to the initial training of a wild mustang. Auditor fees are only $25 per clinic with all proceeds going directly to the support of these mustangs!! We will put one mustang at a time in the round pen and start the process. Since their arrival, we only visit with them daily but do not touch them, keeping them safe while they can acclimate to a non-threatening environment. They will have had the opportunity to watch us while we can watch and observe them. The first public appearance of these mustangs will be at the March 20, 2010 clinic at our Kokal Farm, Greenfield, NH., where we will demonstrate just how non-violent and rewarding the HorseTenders LLC "Developing Mettle without Metal"TM process of developing bonds of mutual respect and trust can be. The 3rd in a series of clinics involving the taming of 4 wild mustangs in the HorseTenders LLC Project Mustang, Last Chance Mustangs. If you witnessed the first touches or initial round penning, ground handling, & saddling, and were emotionally moved, just wait until you see the progress that has been made in less than two months! Our trainers will take one mustang at a time and place the horse in the round pen and start the process of riding the mustang, most of the time this is without incident.
By now some, hopefully all, of the mustangs have been adopted and some may also be ahead of schedule! For those mustangs, there will be certain challenges that will be worked on during this clinic and their new owners will be there to work with their mustangs for the first time! This is also a very moving and motivating clinic. Come and see for yourself that our HorseTenders "Developing Mettle without Metal"TM gentle approaches work and provide for a solid foundation for these incredible mustangs.
This clinic is for auditors only. This will be an all day clinic. Pay online before the clinic and have your name placed in a drawing for one of our HorseTenders T-Shirts! Auditors can pay the day of the clinic as well, but come early to see all of these magnificent horses being ridden for the first time. Snacks and sandwiches will be available for purchase. Water and coffee are provided.
These mustangs are available for adoption to pre-qualified adopters. Visit www.blm.gov to fill out the adoption forms. We will also have forms available at our clinics and will be available to help you fill them out and discuss what is needed when adopting these magnificent horses.

In order to prepare for this competitive ride and to facilitate an enjoyable experience, HorseTenders LLC is offering several clinics to help prepare both horse and rider.
The AM ground portion helps prepare the horse to trust and listen to its rider and helps the rider give clear instructions to the horse. This is the communication aspect of our training. In the afternoon, for those horse/rider pairs that are ready to move forward, our trainers will be mounted guides through some sample obstacles. These obstacles are challenging and confidence building! For those pairs needing a little more confidence, there will be ground obstacles that are challenging and confidence building as well.
These clinics are so much fun that no one wants to leave. Even the auditors should come prepared to have some hands on horse challenges!
